This get together allows us all to have a lovely evening exchanging views and stories in an atmosphere of relaxation and fun. It provides an informal setting to discuss any issues, be they national or local and we usually put the world to rights by the end of the evening. It is a lovely opportunity for those who would normally dine alone, to have convivial company over a delicious meal. The aim is to have a social evening out in the company of friends, to talk, eat and enjoy each others company outside of the Church environment.
The group has grown and it is fulfilling its present aim, it provides a date in the diary to look forward to and gives a feeling of belonging. If we can encourage anyone who feels they will benefit from the group to come and join us, we will have succeeded. The club is successfully run by Margaret Kenshole, who does a lot of work to ensure everyone is informed of venue and menus available. There is a system of choosing meals in advance through a notice in the Church foyer. A number of cars are used, so that anyone can get a lift if they need it.
A good evening in the company of others, over a tasty meal engenders interesting conversations and many a good joke. We meet on the first Tuesday each month and there is always a good debate regarding the next venue. The rural area around Crediton has an amazing number of places to eat, all with their own attractions, so we are never stuck for where to go. We like the summers evening drives through the beautiful Devon countryside but like to stay closer to Crediton in the winter. Each year, we usually find a good new venue and some new tasty dishes somewhere.
