The Ark
One regular activity continuing as usual during refurbishment is ‘The Ark’, our Messy Church held on the second Saturday afternoon of each month. In February there was a fishy theme based on Luke chapter 5. Ann retold the story where Jesus called his first disciples who were fishermen and the children enjoyed acting it out. Primrose and George rowed on big beanbags as improvised boats; Mollie, Evie and Matthew threw fishing nets overboard and Mia and Dan caught remarkably life-like silver fish. Adam expertly operated the computer to display the words of action songs and then a choice of craft activities continued the theme.
The photo shows the children with their results: some 3D funky paper fish, stained glass windows with a fish centre, pictures with ‘foily’ fish and the backdrop of a big mural of fish patterns made using paints and old bubble wrap. At the end of the session a delicious meal was enjoyed by all and chairs were then put out ready for the next day’s Sunday service in its temporary location.
