Farewell to Roland
Roland has been a member at Crediton Methodist Church for 44 years coming to Crediton in 1974 with Rita and their 3 children, Rod, David and Katherine. Not one to sit around and do nothing, Roland has always been a very active member of the church family and has undertaken many roles over the years. He has seen 12 minsters come and go, some stayed longer than others but I am sure that this was nothing to do with Roland! Roland has now decided that the time has come to be nearer to Katherine so that she can keep an eye on him or so she thinks! On Sunday 19th August which was to be Roland’s last Sunday worshipping with us, it was my honour on behalf of the church to present him with a framed collage of photos which we hope will give him many happy memories of his time spent here in Crediton. Roland will be missed in many ways but in particular we will miss his singing for whenever we had a new hymn, we could rely on Roland to lead the singing, so our loss is certainly the Methodist church in Newport Pagnell’s gain which is where Roland will now worship. Roland has now moved to The Limes, Methodist Homes Complex in Newport Pagnell and our thoughts and prayers are with him as he settles into his new surroundings, hopefully it won’t be too long before we hear how he is getting along.
