The Ark is a recent very successful outreach initiative operating one Saturday a month and attracting young families and parents, most of whom do not otherwise attend church. Typically, there will be 47 people at each session of whom 25 are children and 22 are parents and/or helpers.
This is a type of ‘messy church’ where the whole family is introduced to the Christian message in a fun way with Bible stories, craft activities, drama (using various methods including puppets, acting and powerpoint presentations), prayer time and songs, and each session ends with a time of simple worship after sharing a cooked meal. We make no charge to the families for attendance, materials or food.
Though we are rightly very pleased with the success to date of the Ark, we nonetheless would like to establish further outreach to the families that come now, and make contact with other families that might benefit from this activity.
We also need to keep the content of The Ark under review to keep it fresh, relevant and exciting, and to consider what might be offered to the children as they get older.
